What the BIMI Checker checks
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is a DNS TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com that points to your brand logo, so supporting inboxes (Gmail, Apple Mail, Yahoo) show it next to your messages. It has two key tags: l= (the logo, a specific SVG profile) and a= (a Verified Mark Certificate).
Two requirements trip people up: BIMI only works once your domain is at DMARC enforcement (p=quarantine or reject), and Gmail and Apple Mail require a VMC — a Verified Mark Certificate issued by a certificate authority — before they’ll display the logo.
This checker fetches your BIMI record, previews and validates the logo against the SVG profile, and tells you whether a VMC is present.
Frequently asked questions
Why isn’t my logo showing even though I have a BIMI record?+
The two usual reasons: your domain isn’t at DMARC enforcement (p=quarantine/reject), or you don’t have a VMC. Gmail and Apple Mail require a Verified Mark Certificate before displaying the logo.
What is a VMC?+
A Verified Mark Certificate proves you own your trademarked logo. It’s issued by a certificate authority (e.g. DigiCert, Entrust) and is billed separately from CertaDNS.
What format does the logo need to be?+
A square SVG that conforms to the SVG Tiny Portable/Secure (SVG-Tiny-PS) profile — no scripts, no external references. This tool validates yours against that profile.
Is this tool free?+
Yes — it only reads public DNS and your public logo file; no signup.
